Community-Wide Forum
This evening session is open to everyone — including individuals impacted by alcohol misuse, their loved ones, allies, and community members. The forum will offer an inclusive, supportive space to share experiences, gain insight from experts and peers, and explore local resources for prevention, treatment, and recovery.

Whether you're seeking help, supporting someone else, or simply want to learn more, all are welcome to attend.

Expert Panelists

  • Angela Ross, AANP-CNP

    Angela Ross is a board-certified Nurse Practitioner with the University of Toledo Physicians, specializing in Recovery Services. With a focus in Addiction Medicine, she is dedicated to the comprehensive treatment and management of substance use disorders in adults. Angela delivers evidence-based, patient-centered care tailored to the unique needs of each individual on their recovery journey.

    Her clinical expertise includes:

    Assessment & Diagnosis – Conducting thorough evaluations to accurately identify substance use disorders and guide effective treatment planning

    Addiction Treatment Management – Providing a range of evidence-based interventions, including medication-assisted treatment (MAT) and behavioral support

    Collaborative Care – Working closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver holistic care that addresses the physical, emotional, and social dimensions of addiction

    Patient & Family Education – Equipping individuals and families with the knowledge and tools needed to support recovery and prevent relapse

    Angela is deeply committed to reducing stigma and advancing compassionate, high-quality care for those affected by addiction.

  • Amy Huffman, Peer Support Specialist

    Amy Huffman is a Counsel Aide at Harbor, where she supports women in recovery through compassionate, peer-informed care. After a successful 23-year career in Sales and Marketing with Honeywell Aerospace, Amy transitioned into the behavioral health field following the personal loss of her husband in 2021 and a desire to make a deeper impact.

    In recovery since October 10, 2018, Amy brings lived experience, empathy, and a strong commitment to helping others on their own recovery journeys. She joined Harbor in 2022, earned her Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant (CDCA) certification in November 2024, and is currently pursuing her Peer Support Certification.

    Originally from Lima, Ohio, Amy is a graduate of The Ohio State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Marketing. She is a proud mother of three and enjoys walking, music, travel, and time with her family. Through her work at Harbor, Amy embraces the opportunity to give back to others the same way others supported her in early sobriety.

  • Nicole Shurelds, LSW, LCDC III, CPRS

    Nicole Shurelds is the Program Director for Harbor’s Women’s Residential Program, where she leads with a deep commitment to client-centered care and evidence-based practices in addiction and mental health treatment. With years of experience in program development, resource linkage, and community collaboration, she has helped remove barriers for individuals seeking treatment and has driven meaningful improvements in service delivery.

    Her efforts have earned her notable recognition, including the Recovery Trailblazer Award from the Wood County ADAMHS Board (2024) and, as part of her dedicated team, the Provider Appreciation Award from NAMI of Wood County (2025). She is also actively involved in broader outreach and advocacy efforts, having partnered with organizations such as the ProMedica Ebeid Center, 419Cares, the Hancock County Chamber of Commerce, and several regional drug court programs to expand access to treatment across Ohio.

    A Licensed Social Worker (LSW), Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor III (LCDC III), and Certified Peer Recovery Supporter (CPRS), she is currently completing her Master of Social Work (MSW) and will soon pursue her LISW. Her clinical foundation was built working for five years in a geriatric mental health unit, where she developed a deep passion for helping individuals across all life stages.

    Known for her leadership, vision, and collaborative spirit, she remains focused on enhancing group therapy programs, improving client outcomes, and building networks with like-minded professionals dedicated to recovery and mental wellness. She is driven by the belief that treatment changes lives and is proud to contribute to lasting, positive impact in both individuals and communities.
